In the rapidly changing world, preparing for the future of work in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields involves a combination of skills, knowledge, and expertise.
We prepared the students from Divine Christian College to pursue STEM related career by introducing them to the fundamentals of STEM.
The students were introduced to Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing. They designed and 3D printed a keyholder.
We designed and machined the Titan M10 from the Titans building block series.
Features:
The Titan 10M has a honeycomb feature for weight reduction(aerospace applications), island on the bottom side, threads on the top side, and the entire top space being tapered.
While machining, maintain comprehensive documentation of the machining process, inspections, and quality control measures for traceability and future reference.
Tip 10
It’s crucial to note that machining aluminum requires expertise, patience, and precision due to the material’s characteristics. Proper tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and coolant strategies are essential to prevent tool wear, workpiece deformation, and overheating during the machining process.
Additionally, safety measures must be followed, including proper handling of titanium dust and chips, as they can pose health and safety hazards.
We designed and machined the Titan M9 from the Titans building block series.
Features:
The Titan M9 is an aerospace bracket with a unique, 3D surfaced shape.
Tip 9
After machining the Titans, Remember to conduct a final inspection to verify that the component meets all quality and dimensional requirements. If the component is part of a larger assembly, ensure it fits and functions correctly within the assembly.
We designed and machined the Titan M8 from the Titan Building Blocks series.
Features:
The Titan M8 has a binocular shape that is uncommon in machining. It has an odd part that has pockets, through holes, and an inner diameter O-ring groove.
Depending on the application, machining the Titans may require additional treatments like heat treatment, surface coating, or anodizing for enhanced properties
While machining the Titans remember to perform Post-Machining Treatments
We designed and machined the Titan M5 from the Titan Building Blocks series.
Features: The Titan M5 has a star shape which is a commonly used shape in machining. We created a realistic part that has threaded holes and engraving.
Steps to Consider while machining the Titans: Ensure that your machine is properly setup.
Tip 5
– Set up the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine or manual machine with the appropriate tooling and fixtures.
– Ensure that the machine is calibrated and in good working condition.
