The geniuses from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike emerged victorious in the third edition of the prestigious Nigerian Genius National Engineering Competition and were ranked No. 1 in engineering education in Nigeria.

Their victory further solidifies Universities reputation as a leading institution in engineering education in Nigeria.


Intensive training for the Nigerian genuises

In preparation for the geniuses to solve Nigeria’s biggest engineering problems, they received hands-on training introducing them to advanced engineering skills, including Laser Technology (Laser cutting and engraving) and Product Design & Development (CAD and CAM).

The geniuses from the UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS were equipped with advanced engineering skills, tools and equipment to solve Nigeria’s biggest engineering challenge

One of the strategic goals of the Nigerian Genius national engineering competition is to equip engineering students with advanced engineering skills, preparing them to solve real-world problems.

Also, the geniuses from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, received training on advanced engineering skills, preparing them to solve engineering challenges in Nigeria.

The geniuses from LADOKE AKINTOLA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY ,OGBOMOSO received advanced engineering skills training, preparing them to solve Nigeria’s biggest engineering problems.
 

Nigerian Genuises designs and build innovative soluions

The Nigerian Genius National Engineering Competition aims to drive industrialisation in Nigeria through capacity building in engineering innovation, indigenous products development, and manufacturing.
 
It prepares engineering students and graduates to become successful entrepreneurs, creating indigenous products for Nigeria and the international market.
 
Hence, the 2025 Nigerian Geniuses were tasked to design and build an AI-powered security device, which could be adopted to solve the problem of insecurity in Nigeria.
The CEO of Clintonel Innovation Centre Tochukwu Clinton Chukwueke, who announced the solution, explained that insecurity is gradually becoming a major challenge in Nigeria, and innovative solutions like the AI-powered security device designed by the Nigerian Geniuses can help mitigate this issue.

Nigerian’s Genius brings together Nigeria’s brightest minds to tackle the nation’s toughest engineering and manufacturing challenges.
 
Cash Prize: ₦1,000,000
 
Venue: Advanced Engineering Centre (AEC), Aba
 
Duration: 1 week (with accommodation & feeding provided)
 
Application Deadline: April 13, 2025
 
Who Can Apply?
 A team of 3 engineering students (preferably from different departments) from any Nigerian university or polytechnic.
 
 Teams should have complementary skills in areas like CAD, CAM, Embedded Systems, PCB Design, Welding & Fabrication, etc.
 
 Teams are highly encouraged to include females
