Clintonel is Bridging the Engineering Skills Gap in Nigeria

Category : Blog

To address the gross engineering skills gap in Nigeria, Clintonel Innovation Centre (CIC) Aba pioneered Engineering for Industry (E4I) program, through which we provide capacity building for engineering lecturers, students and graduates on Essential Industry Skills, Research & Development.

Engineering students from different tertiary institutions are currently undergoing Industrial Training at our Advanced Engineering Centre Aba.

Today, we’re glad to announce that three of the students just passed an International Certification Examination on Essential Engineering Skills: Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD & CAM)

They’re now Autodesk Certified Users and can work with engineering companies in any part of the world. We’ll keep working hard to bridge the skills gap.

We’re grateful to our partners: Royal Academy of Engineering Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation and Autodesk

Hardware Ecosystem Map Launch

STEM Training at Cor Mariae Girls Secondary School, Aba.

We took our STEM program to Cor Mariae Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School Umungasi Aba

On the first day, we introduced them to Computer-Aided Design (Use of software to design objects and products) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (Use of software to automate and control manufacturing machines), equipping them with digital skills and preparing them for the future of work.
On the second day of the training, we introduced the girls to digital electronics and computer programming using Arduino microcontroller board.

The students were able to program the Arduino board using M block graphical programming software.
Experiment plays many roles in science one of which is to test theories and provide a basis for scientific knowledge.

With our indigenous Pressure STEM kits, the students of Cor Mariae secondary school experimented the principle of transmission of fluid pressure; Pascal’s law.

The girls had an exciting STEM experiment.

Engineering Collaborations with Nigerian Institutions

Nigeria Hardware Ecosystem Mapping

Category : Blog

During the Nigeria Hardware Convention 2021 held at Clintonel Innovation Centre – CIC Aba, we embarked on a project to map the Nigerian hardware ecosystem.

The map will help to collate data, understand the ecosystem, showcase players in the ecosystem, enhance collaboration, advertise hardware-related businesses, and facilitate the growth of the hardware ecosystem.

The data collection was started at the convention and later extended as an online survey.

We have successfully completed the mapping of the ecosystem and plan to launch the map on Thursday 10th February 2022, by 3:00 – 4:00pm (Zoom).

STEM kits are great tools for building creativity and ingenuity. They enable students to learn through experiments.

To advance STEM education in Nigeria, we design and produce indigenous STEM Kits. The PCBs for our LED STEM kits are fabricated in our makerspace using our desktop CNC machines.

Clintonel STEM Training at ST Anthony and Jude College Aba

Category : Blog

During the STEM training at St Anthony and Jude College Aba, we introduced the students to digital electronics, Arduino programming and electronic components.

They also learnt about the hydraulic system.

The hydraulic system makes use of pressurized liquid to perform work and operates on the basic principle of transmission of motion and power through incompressible liquids.

The students were so excited to engage in this practical application of science.
The students were also introduced to the amazing world of 3d printing technology.
